Podcast contest
This annual contest celebrates student achievements in podcasting. We showcase the ways students are living UVic’s values and contributing to a better future.

This contest is open to submissions all year. The annual deadline is December 1.

Submission details
- candidates may submit 1 podcast episode, up to 45 minutes long
- all podcast genres are welcome
- submissions can be ongoing, completed, standalone or part of a series
- podcasts created for school or work are eligible
- only current UVic students can apply
- podcasts must be in English
- podcasts must follow university guidelines on academic integrity
- we will not accept video podcasts
Judging criteria
We will consider:
- technical skill: integration of story, sounds, and/or music that enhances the overall narrative arc
- creative storytelling: informative, insightful, entertaining, original, and/or thoughtful choice of topic or story
- impact: topic or story told is emotionally resonant, memorable and evocative, and provokes further contemplation of ideas
Prizes
A total amount of $1,000 in prize money is available. No winner will be awarded more than $500.
We will publish the winning episodes in UVicSpace and highlight them on UVic Libraries' social media.

Contest rules
- sponsor: University of Victoria (UVic). The contest if not associated with Instagram, Facebook or X/Twitter
- eligibility: all Canadian residents (excluding Quebec) that meet the criteria in the guidelines
- entry: 1 per person
- winner notification: the selected entrant will be contacted by email and must answer a skill-testing question correctly to receive the prize; if declined, the prize will go to another entrant
- prize: the prize is non-transferable and must be accepted as an award
- privacy: UVic uses personal info for administration process only and will not share it without consent except as required by law
- liability: UVic is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury related to contest entries, technical issues, or prize acceptance, and entrants agree to release UVic and other associated parties from any liability related to their participation in the contest
