William Petrie Graduate Student Library Scholarship

We award this $1000 scholarship to a graduate student every year. To apply, submit an essay about how you used library resources for your research.

Submit your essay and the application form directly to libraryscholarships@uvic.ca.

The annual deadline is May 31. 

Essay details

Please submit a 500-word essay about how you have used library resources for a class project or assignment. Let us know about the impact these resources have had on your work.

About the donor

Bill Petrie was an accomplished researcher who contributed to many fields, from botany to global warming. He received many honours in his lifetime, including a Royal Society of Canada fellowship. Bill’s deep appreciation for the world around him inspired his gift to the University of Victoria’s Libraries. This legacy will continue to support future generations of researchers.
