Gladys Nipp and Stephen Mah Family Award

We award this $1000 scholarship to an undergraduate or graduate student every year. To apply, submit a research proposal about how you plan to use UVic Libraries' Chinese–Canadian collections in a project.

Submit your proposal and the application form to libraryscholarships@uvic.ca.

The annual deadline is May 31. 

Proposal details

Please submit a 500-word proposal for a research project, outreach project or oral history project that will use UVic Libraries’ Chinese–Canadian collections. Be specific: name which collections you will use and how you plan to use them.

About the donors

Gladys Nipp and Stephen Mah were known for welcoming international students. They would host students for home-cooked meals and provide a place to stay. In 2019, the Nipp family established this award to honour their aunt and uncle’s community spirit.
