Pathways to Permanent Residence Information Session

This event is hosted by International Student Services and the School of Business International Programs Office.

Date: Monday, March 18, 2019

Time: 4:30pm - 6:30pm

Location: Bob Wright Centre (BWC) room B150

Are you an international student who is working towards completing a degree program at UVic? Are you thinking about applying for permanent resident status in Canada?

When you graduate, you will have a quality Canadian education, proficiency in at least one of Canada's official languages, and experience living (and maybe even working) in one or more Canadian communities.

Canada wants to retain the talent of international graduates, so our immigration programs include a clear pathway to permanent residence. Specifically, the post-graduation work permit helps international graduates gain enough skilled, Canadian work experience to qualify through Express Entry.

Express Entry is Canada's flagship application management system for key economic immigration programs, including the Canadian Experience Class. Successful candidates benefit from faster processing through a user-friendly, online system.

In this information session, an experienced officer from Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will provide an overview of how Express Entry works and explain how to find your pathway from study permit, to work permit, to permanent residence. You will have an opportunity to ask questions, and you will leave better equipped to navigate the immigration process.

Audience: UVic degree-seeking international students

Registration required: Register online to reserve your seat.

Prior to this event, please review information on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.
