As the Undergraduate Student Advisor I am pleased to provide academic advice and support to prospective, newly admitted, and current BSN students in the School of Nursing. Advising is provided to students on campus (UVic) and partner site campuses (Aurora College, Camosun College, College of the Rockies, and Selkirk College) regarding admissions and progression through the School of Nursing BSN curriculum.
I work collaboratively with the Undergraduate Education Advising and Administrative Team on the development and implementation of policies and procedures specifically pertaining to BSN student recruitment, admissions, advising and progression. The Graduate Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating administrative activity in the School of Nursing pertaining to recruitment, admission, student records, progression, and academic advising of students at the graduate levels. The Advisor facilitates the development and implementation of school academic policy through committee membership and co-chair roles. The Advisor is also the contact person for graduate student awards, other university departments such as FGS, and other community partners (College of Registered Nursing of British Columbia, Island Health, government ministries, etc.).
This position oversees and coordinates, with other administrative staff, the academic calendar cycle changes throughout the calendar year for both the graduate and undergraduate programs.

Cheryl Hebert, RN, is a member of the Métis Nation of Greater Victoria and grew up on the traditional territories of the Ktunaxa and Secwépemc Nations. Her paternal ancestry is Métis-Cree, tracing through the Lucier and Bronconnier families of the Red River Métis homelands (Treaty 2), and her maternal lineage is of Scottish-Irish settler heritage from the Katzie and Kwantlen territories.
Cheryl’s nursing practice has focused on Indigenous health and community engagement. She currently serves as a Practicum Coordinator in the School of Nursing, where she aims to apply her experience to support culturally grounded and community-responsive practicum opportunities for graduate students.
