Mya and Marcus Indigenous Graduate Scholarship in Visual Arts

One or more scholarships are awarded to First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit graduate students in the Department of Visual Arts. A preference is for students who have experience working with wood material in an Indigenous context (for example carving, construction or expanded material examinations) and a further preference is for students from Northwest Territories. Students with a GPA of 6.0 and above are eligible. Applications must be submitted to the Department of Visual Arts by April 15.   

 Approval of the recipients will be made by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Awards Committee upon the recommendation of the Department of Visual Arts.

 Applicants who have indicated they are First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit for this award are required to demonstrate their eligibility for Indigenous-specific awards in alignment with the Indigenous Citizenship Declaration (ICD) Policy (GV0810).

Eligibility

Normally, the minimum requirement for consideration is an A- average and any additional criteria that has been established by the donor. Awards are assigned based on nominations from eligible academic units. Unless otherwise noted in the award description, you must be a full-time graduate student.

Retaining funding

Ongoing UVic graduate funding requires students to maintain a minimum level of academic standing and some ongoing maintenance.
