Cornett Building - Partial Roof Replacements 2026

Cornett A Wing, B Wing, and walkway roofs

Facilities Management is working with Universal Sheet Metal Ltd., to
replace roof sections on Wings A and B of the Cornett building; work will
begin on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, with completion targeted for
November 9, 2026th, 2026. The areas of roof to be replaced are shown on
the attached drawing.

This work involves the removal of the metal flashings located in the
walkways (courtyard) that have a minimal amount of caulking that is
asbestos containing; this task is schedule from Wednesday, September 16
to Friday September 18, 2026. For safety reasons, the courtyard area will
remain closed during this period (refer to the attached drawing).

Door next to Stairwell S3 and bike racks locates within the courtyard
area will remain out of service during this period.

The air conditioning compressor located on the walkway roof, opposite
room A194, must remain turned off on Thursday, September 17, from
6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The workers removing the flashing will be using removal procedures
mandated by WorkSafe BC. Please keep all windows facing to the
courtyard closed on those days.

Asbestos barrier tape will be installed to demarcate the courtyard area
closed.

Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 7:00 am to Friday, September 18, 2026, until 5:00 pm. Entrances B100 and B100B will be closed on
Thursday, September 17 from 6:00 am to 8:00 am.
