Tell us why you want to be a co-op student for a day for your chance to experience what it's like to be a co-op student and see what co-op has to offer!

Contest winners will have a chance to:

  • Sample co-op, the employer, and the work environment
  • Shadow employees
  • Tour the workplace
  • Network with team members
  • Witness the workplace environment and culture
  • Conduct informational interviews with employees and current co-op students
  • Learn tips of the workforce

Judging criteria and rules

Judging criteria

The selection committee will judge all entries (online and onsite) in a preliminary round. Judges are looking for:

  • A link between the student’s interests/experience and the employer’s work
  • Enthusiasm and excitement about the opportunity
  • An entry that considers the benefit to the student and the employer
  • Creativity and overall appeal

Contest rules

1. Only students who have not yet completed a co-op work term are allowed to participate.

2. You are eligible to place one entry per employer choice (seven employers means seven chances to enter).

3. By submitting your entry to Co-op Student for a Day, you agree that:

  • UVic Co-op and Career may share my picture (if applicable), entry, and/or comments on their social media channels. I understand that this image or parts of my entry may be used in the future for educational, promotional, or other related purposes.

4. You must be in a program that offers co-operative education.

5. Incomplete entries, as determined by the selection committee, will not be considered.

6. The employer will organize the participating hours, therefore, session times may vary.

7. Opportunities, roles and responsibilities will vary and be at the discretion of the employer.

8. Selection committee has final say on which students will participate and which employer the student will be paired with.
