Impact Investing Hub
The Impact Investing Hub (IIH), now an independent division of ACET, was originally established through the Gustavson School of Business as a research and education centre, connecting academic inquiry with real-world investment decision-making.
IIH advances research on impact investing, sustainable finance, blended finance and community energy finance, while convening investors, policymakers, community leaders, and businesses to mobilize capital for an equitable and resilient clean energy transformation.
Contributions
Through research, collaboration and convening activities, the hub supports ACET’s Business and Finance Innovation Strategic Research Area by advancing equitable and sustainable finance solutions that enable community energy transition and local investment.
It does this by co-developing research initiatives and providing experiential learning opportunities for students and capacity building programs for businesses to enhance skills and knowledge that will help accelerate Canada’s transition to a net zero.
The hub also provides access to data, curated resources and practical tools that inform decision-making and action in sustainable finance and impact investing.
Focus Areas
- Climate Finance: Exploring financial pathways that enable investments in clean technologies, renewable energy, ocean innovation, and nature-based solutions.
- Transition Finance: Supporting community-led energy transformation by strengthening sustainable and impact finance capacity among SMEs, startups, and local innovators.
- Inclusive Finance: Developing solutions that bring access to capital for women, Indigenous entrepreneurs, and racialized communities.
