Change your NetLink ID passphrase: faculty and staff
If you know your current NetLink ID passphrase, you can change your passphrase by visiting www.uvic.ca/uvicid and clicking on the "Change your passphrase" link.
New requirements for passphrase
When you visit www.uvic.ca/uvicid to update your passphrase, you will be required to select a new passphrase which is between 12 and 128 characters in length. Your passphrase must only contain the following: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, digits, or common special characters (including spaces). For example: ! ” # $ % & ’ ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~ \
See the passphrase tips page for further information on creating more secure passwords.
Reset your NetLink ID passphrase
If you have forgotten your primary NetLink ID or passphrase you can go to the NetLink website and click the "Can't sign in?" link to recover your NetLink ID or passphrase. If you do not have a verification method or do not know your student/employee number you will have to contact the Computer Help Desk. The Computer Help Desk can reset your passphrase with you, either in person or over the phone. You must present a valid piece of photo ID to authorize a passphrase reset. If you prefer to reset your passphrase over the phone rather than in person, you can email or fax your photo ID:
- Take a digital photo of your photo ID and email it to helpdesk@uvic.ca.
- Scan your photo ID and email it to helpdesk@uvic.ca.
- Fax a copy of your photo ID to 250-721-8778.
Be sure to include a contact number where you can be reached.
These instructions apply to primary NetLink ID accounts only; different instructions are provided for secondary NetLink IDs.
