M365 Copilot license launch

The launch of M365 Copilot licenses has been rescheduled to May 2026. We believe it is important to ensure that the transition to Copilot is accompanied by robust data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information. This adjustment will allow time to implement privacy and security tools to protect the University’s data.

In the interim, users are encouraged to take proactive steps to prepare for Copilot’s arrival:

  • If you are an owner of a SharePoint site, review the new sensitive sites checklist page
  • Review sharing settings on files in your UVic OneDrive

  • Register your interest if you would like to be informed when Copilot licenses are available
