George Clutesi exhibition nominated for BC Heritage Award

George Clutesi: ḥašaḥʔap / ʔaapḥii / ʕc̓ik / ḥaaʔaksuqƛ / ʔiiḥmisʔap, has been nominated for a BC Heritage Award in Education Communications and Awareness. This exhibition created through the Visual Stories Lab was truly a remarkable project to be part of for 5 years. We are very grateful to everyone who helped make this possible including the Clutesi family, the nuučaan̓ułʔatḥ artists and scholars whose work featured in the show including Tommy Happynook and Dawn Smith, Survivors from the Alberni Indian Residential School who shared their memories of George with us, and our gallery partners, the Alberni Valley Museum, the Bill Reid Gallery, and the Legacy Art Gallery.
