Endangered Material Knowledge Programme project

December 22, 2025

The digital repository and web landing page for the Endangered Material Knowledge Programme project through the British Museum is now live.

This project by Ann B. Stahl (ANTH emeriti and adjunct professor) and Zonke Guddah (PhD candidate) relates to the department’s Visual Anthropology and Materiality theme, documenting knowledge practices related to the making of basketry fish traps, mats, the weaving of traditional doors and building houses using locally available earthen and organic materials.

The repository includes over 900 open access digital resources (photos, videos, textual) that document and support knowledge revitalization.
