Policy review

Review process

The Sexualized Violence Prevention and Response Policy was written in 2017 and goes under a comprehensive review every 3 years—most recently in 2025. The review process is exhaustive and involves significant consultation with student and staff and faculty groups to ensure that the policy is ever evolving and responsive to the needs of our campus community.

UVic's Board of Governors approves the Policy.

About the policy

The Policy was created in recognition that sexualized violence is a pervasive problem both on and off campus and the university has an important role to play in both preventing and responding to sexualized violence.

The Policy applies to and supports all University community members, including but not limited to:
  • students (all types, including continuing studies and distance students)
  • faculty, librarians and staff
  • post-doctoral fellows and visiting researchers
  • university leaders, including Board of Governors and Senate members
