ReUsables Eco Box Program

Eco Program

Food Services works closely with the Office of Campus Planning and Sustainability to prioritize waste reduction practices on campus and enhance diversion in our food outlets. 

Launching Fall 2025 in The Cove Dining Facility and Mystic Market, the ReUsables ECOBOX is a sustainable, reusable container that can be borrowed instead of using single-use-take-out packaging. This program is  aimed at diverting landfill waste in our dining facilities.

How the Program Works

1. Borrow

  • Order your meal in an EcoBox.
  • At checkout, staff will scan your ONECARD, ReUserID or payment card to record the container to your account.
  • Enjoy your meal in a sturdy, reusable container for no extra cost- just a refundable deposit.

2. Enjoy

  • Take your EcoBox anywhere on campus.
  • You have up to 5 days to return it. 
  • If you don't return your EcoBox within 5 days, a $12 charge will be applied to your ONECard or credit card.  If you return the EcoBox within 30 days of checkout, you'll receive a refund back on your ONECard or credit card.  
  • If you lose your EcoBox or fail to return it after 30 days, the $12 charge is non-refundable.  

3. Return

  • Empty our your EcoBox responsibly.
  • Visit one of the Return Stations at either The Cove or Mystic Market.
  • Scan the QR code at the return kiosk and drop your EcoBox on the cart.
  • That's it, your account is cleared and you are ready to borrow again!
