Realizing the Right to Housing: The Housing Justice Project
Funding body
Vancouver Foundation Participatory Action Research Grant
Duration of support
2022-2025
Description
This project seeks to change the power balance so that people with lived and living experience have a say over programs and policies that affect their lives. We are supporting action-oriented systems change in three ways: 1) through leadership development to increase collective capacity to critically reflect on the gap between housing rights, lived experiences of local homelessness, and housing policies and programs; 2) by using the Participatory Action Research process to develop a systemic human rights claim with local allies; and 3) by supporting people with living/lived experience to pursue avenues of justice, engage decision-makers, and critically reflect on those engagements to build competency around strategies for advancing housing rights for those with experience of homelessness.
