Plan2Adapt

Climate change is impacting regions across British Columbia in different ways. The Plan2Adapt tool provides information about projected climate change for regions across BC under a high emissions scenario (SSP5-8.5). A number of user-friendly visualization formats are designed to help users assess climate change in their region based on a standard set of climate model projections.

Using Plan2Adapt, users can:

  • Assess historical and future climate conditions in BC under a high emissions scenario (SSP5-8.5)
  • Explore changes by regional district, health authority, ecoprovince, or First Nations language family
  • Visualize changes via user-friendly formats, including maps, trend graphs and summary tables
  • Zoom in on mapped areas of interest to compare regional differences

Intended users

Plan2Adapt supports local and regional planning in British Columbia. It has a simple user interface and fewer options than Climate Explorer. It is designed for anyone looking to understand how climate change may impact their region more broadly.

About the data

The information on Plan2Adapt is computed from daily statistically downscaled scenarios, using the same input data as Climate Explorer. These scenarios were developed using a multivariate downscaling method (MBCn). For more details, see our Statistically Downscaled Climate Scenarios page.
