UVic Libraries Feedback Survey 2026

Take our user feedback survey to help the library improve our services, collections, and spaces. This survey is open to all members of the UVic community (students, faculty, and staff). Your feedback helps us shape the library to better support your learning, teaching, research, and work.

Purpose and Objectives

The objective of this research study is to gather data about the opinions of library users at the UVic Libraries in areas such as library services, spaces, and resources.

Importance of This Research

This research is important because it will allow the Libraries to collect data about user needs and user satisfaction, and will be run biennially in order to gather data on changes over time. Survey results will support evidence-based decision making and the appropriate allocation of resources based on respondents’ needs.

Participants Selection

You are being asked to participate in this study because you are registered as a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student, or currently employed by the university as a faculty member, lecturer, postdoctoral fellow, visiting researcher, or support staff.

What Is Involved

If you consent to voluntarily participate in this research, your participation will include completing a short (less than 15 minute) survey about your opinions about and use of library resources and services.

Inconvenience

Participation in this study may cause some inconvenience to you, including the time you spend on the survey.

Risks

There are no known or anticipated risks to you by participating in this research.

Benefits

The potential benefits of your participation in this research include being able to share your opinions about the Libraries, improved services implemented by the Libraries in response to your responses, and learning about services and resources that you may have not been aware of.

Compensation

As a way to compensate you for any inconvenience related to your participation, you will be given the opportunity to enter a random draw for a $50 VISA gift card.

Voluntary Participation

Your participation in this research must be completely voluntary. If you do decide to participate, you may withdraw at any time without any consequences or any explanation. Due to the anonymous nature of the survey, we cannot remove any specific participant’s responses once they are entered in the survey.

Anonymity

Your responses to this survey will remain completely anonymous. No IP addresses or other identifying information will be recorded by the survey software. If you provide your email for the random prize draw, your email will not be connected in any way with your survey responses.

Confidentiality

The confidentiality of the data will be protected by securely storing the data gathered in this study. Any personally identifying information will be deleted from survey responses. Results will only be communicated publicly in aggregate.

Dissemination of Results

It is anticipated that aggregated results of this study may be shared with others in the following ways: posted to library website, presentations at internal meetings, academic conferences, and/or in a published article, chapter or book.

Disposal of Data

Data from this study will be retained in a secure environment on UVic-supported infrastructure. Electronic data will be retained in order to be used in the future for trend analysis as this study is expected to be replicated in the future.

Contest Rules

By entering this contest, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted the terms and conditions below.

  1. Contest is sponsored by the University of Victoria as represented by its University Libraries (“UVic”).
  2. Contest is open to all individuals who are residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who meet all of the following requirements: Are current employees and/or registered students at the University of Victoria as of March 2026 who completed the UVic Libraries Longitudinal User Survey (2026 edition). UVic Libraries staff are excluded from entering this contest.
  3. Contest opens on 01 March 2026 at 12:00 AM PT and ends on 11 April 2026 at 11:59 PM PT.
  4. Entrants must submit a ballot on the LibWizard platform to be entered into the contest.
  5. There is a limit of one entry per eligible entrant.
  6. The random draw for winners will take place at 12:00 PM on 22 April 2026.
  7. The selected entrant will be contacted by phone using the contact information provided on the ballot. If the selected entrant cannot be contacted within 5 days following the first attempt at contact, or if the selected entrant declines the prize, another random draw will occur and the prize will be awarded to the entrant selected in such subsequent random draw.
  8. The selected entrant must correctly answer a time-limited, skill-testing mathematical question to be awarded the prize.
  9. Entrants agree that their name may be announced on UVic's website and other associated media sites if they are selected as the winner of the contest.
  10. Prize. There will be a total of twenty (20) prizes. Each prize is a $50 CAD VISA gift card. UVic will arrange delivery of the prize.
  11. Prize is non-transferable and must be accepted as awarded. Prize is not convertible to cash.
  12. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
  13. Your personal information is collected under sections 26(c) and (e) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for the purpose of administering the contest. UVic will not share personal information relating to entrants with any third parties, except as may be required by law. UVic will not attempt to contact any entrants for any other purpose than as set out in these terms and conditions unless the entrant has consented to receive relevant communications from UVic or as otherwise allowed under applicable laws. If you have any questions, please contact web_ux@uvic.ca.
  14. UVic reserves the right to amend these contest rules or to terminate the contest at any time without any liability to any entrant.
  15. UVic assumes no liability for any loss, damage or injury, including but not limited to lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late, destroyed, ineligible or incomplete entries.
  16. The decisions of UVic in relation to this contest will be final and binding on all entrants.
  17. By entering this contest, each entrant agrees to release and hold harmless the University of Victoria, Instagram, Facebook, and any of their representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers, and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from: (i) such entrant’s participation in this contest and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunction of any computer, cable, network, hardware, or software, or other mechanical equipment; (iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions, telephone, or Internet service; (iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Promotion; (v) electronic or human error in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries.
