LARG 2024

The Latin America Research Group (LARG) is a forum for the study of Latin America. We bring together faculty as well as graduate and undergraduate students working on Latin America from a number of disciplines including anthropology, business, environmental studies, Indigenous education, geography, Hispanic studies, medicine, music, philosophy, political science, public administration and sociology.

The Chorus is Speaking: Experiencing Identities of Blackness in Canada

Join us at UVic's Legacy Art Gallery Downtown for a reception to celebrate the work of Ojo Agi - Christina Battle - Charles Campbell - Chantal Gibson - Dana Inkster - Karin Jones - Jan Wade -Syrus Marcus Ware; 8 artists of incredible insight and inventiveness brought together in an exploration of facets of the Black experience on Turtle Island through sculpture, drawing and painting,installation, film, and poetry. Curated by Michelle Jacques and Jenelle Pasiechnik (UVic MA, 2015).

Inclusive Christians: Around the Table Campus Communion

Gather for a simple Christian service of prayer, song, scripture, and contemplation. Our worship is centered around a gospel reading for which we take time to discuss and listen to studentinterpretations of the text. All are welcome. A free simple dinner is provided following the service.

The 14th Latin American and Spanish Film Week will take place from September 18th until September 22nd, 2024. Attend a public chat with local Latin American artists and watch four Spanish-languagefilms (with English subtitles) at Cinecenta!
