Credentials

Slavic studies - minor (2007)

After completing a Slavic Studies minor at UVic, Katherine went on to do an MA at the Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Toronto and then a PhD in History at UC Berkeley. She now works as an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she teaches Russian and European history courses.

While an undergraduate student at UVic, I found a warm and supportive community among the students, professors, and staff in Slavic Studies. The professors in this department instilled in me a life-long passion for studying Russian language, literature, film, and history. Whenever I am asked to explain what led me to study Russia, I always answer by describing my time in Slavic Studies at UVic. This wonderful department opens not just doors, but whole new worlds to its students!
