The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria is pleased to again offer a life-changing course to be held in Central Europe in May 2020 called the I-witness Field School (GMST 489/GMST 589). This field school is designed to explore ways in which the Holocaust has been memorialized at various Central European historical sites, museums, and monuments and provides students with an opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding of antisemitism, racism, religious intolerance, homophobia, and the stigmatization of mentally and physically disabled communities.

The program runs from May 4 – May 31, 2020, with the first week of classes taking place at the University of Victoria followed by three weeks in Central Europe. Participants will travel to Berlin & Weimar (Germany), Kraków & Warsaw (Poland), and Amsterdam (Holland).
