2025 Western Regional 3MT competition
The University of Victoria (UVic) hosted the Western Regional 3MT® Competition on Tuesday May 6, 2025. 17 Graduate students from universities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia competed for $3,000 in prize money and a chance to compete in the Canadian National 3MT event.
- 1st place - Mona Behrouzian, University of British Columbia, $1500 prize and spot in the National 3MT Competition
- 2nd place - Parker Volk, University of Calgary, $750 prize and spot in the National 3MT Competition
- 3rd place - Jade Fischer, University of Victoria, $500 prize
- Peoples' Choice Award - Baily Hack, University of Regina, $250 prize
The Three Minute Thesis is a competition in which graduate students take on the challenge of presenting their research in only three minutes to a non-specialist audience. This competition began at the University of Queensland and has grown into an internationally recognized event held by over 350 universities in 59 countries.
