Transferring from a university or university transfer program

Admission requirements

If you're transferring to UVic from a Canadian university or university transfer program, you must meet the following requirements to be eligible for admission.

Applicants who have attempted eight or more university-level courses

  • A minimum average of at least 2.00/9pt scale ("C") on the most recent 12 UVic units (24 credits = approximately 8 courses) attempted
    • Only university-level courses are used in the calculation
    • Repeated and failed courses are included
    • Averages are calculated using term GPAs, not individual courses

Applicants who have attempted fewer than eight university-level courses

  • A minimum overall average of at least 2.00/9pt scale ("C") on all university-level courses attempted
  • Must also meet the minimum high school requirements for year-one entry in the program to which you are applying

Note that the actual cutoff average required for admission may be higher than stated here due to limits on enrollment in particular programs. Some programs also have additional selection criteria as described in the Supplemental application information page.

Faculty requirements

In addition to the general requirements for admission to UVic, applicants must also meet the minimum average required by the program to which you are applying.

Transfer credit

Transfer credit is determined on a course-by-course basis.

Eligible transfer credit is usually assigned during the admission process based on the year in which the courses were completed. In most cases, a transfer credit email is sent immediately following the admission offer.

Supplemental applications

In addition to grades, some UVic undergraduate programs require applicants to provide additional information as part of the selection process.

Check the Supplemental application information page to see details and instructions for programs that require supplemental applications.

English language proficiency

All University of Victoria applicants are required to demonstrate competence in the English language. Applications cannot be fully evaluated until proof of language proficiency is confirmed.
