| Course Description: | Turning works into performance. Explore the art of acting, playwriting, and directing through hands-on exercises and creative assignments. You’ll develop essential theatre skills - including relaxation, observation, imagination, improvisation, characterization, and scene study - while bringing scenes from script to performance. |

| Course Description: | Why do we love musicals? In this course, you’ll find out! Discover iconic shows via BroadwayHD and through in-class viewings, build performance skills through fun workshops and in-class exercises, and explore how musicals can be smart, political, and socially transformative while still delivering pure entertainment. |

| Course Description: | Find your voice and own the room. This course introduces you to the fundamentals of public speaking - from crafting a compelling speech to mastering vocal and physical delivery. You’ll practice speaking with confidence while also learning to listen and respond as an engaged audience member, building skills that shine both onstage and off. |

| Course Description: | New Directions in Canadian Theatre. This intensive course offers students credit for participating in the Canadian Association for Theatre Research (CATR) conference, hosted at UVIC in May and online in June 2026. Students engage with leading scholars and artists, contribute to conference planning, and write critically and creatively in response to cutting-edge artistic and research presentations and performances. This course is a theatre history credit for BFA Theatre Majors, but all with an interest in theatre and performance research are welcome to enroll. |

| Course Description: | Wondering why your doctor might prescribe you theatre tickets on your next visit? Research now proves that dance, theatre, and performance can be vital in improving wellbeing and preventing major non-communicable diseases. But how does it do so? And how can we apply this knowledge to make our communities healthier? In this course, students explore creative techniques to support their own health and wellbeing, while rehearsing bold new ways to bring health research to life through artistic practice. |
