High School Outreach Programs

Are you a drama teacher or a high school counsellor who would like to know more about Theatre at UVic? We’re here to support you and your students.
Book a class tour
Tours of the Phoenix Theatre facilities are available for high school drama teachers and their students. About one hour in length, tours take students through our three performance spaces and backstage to our scenic shop, props storage, costume shop and wardrobe storage and other facilities. Tour times and areas may be restricted by class and performance requirements. Please contact us to arrange a time.
Annual "I Want to Be in Theatre!" Event
Each year, the Department of Theatre opens its doors to high school students who are interested in pursuing a post-secondary education in theatre. Drama teachers and counsellors are also welcome to attend this informative open house event.
Phoenix Rising Outreach Program
A series of online events for high school students (grades 10, 11 & 12) to explore how Department of Theatre shows come together and what UVic students are doing to make it happen. Students participate in conversations with directors, designers, cast and crew, watch a play (livestream), and discuss with those involved afterwards.
Attend Phoenix Theatre plays
Come and see the department of theatre’s work in action! Encourage your drama students to see as much local theatre as possible. Affordable tickets are available many ways:
Keep connected
The department sends out brochures, posters and event information via mail and email to drama teachers and counsellors in our database. Not receiving information? Send your contact information to us!
Keep up-to-date on Phoenix Theatre activities and sign up for the BackstagePASS eNews. 5-6 times a year, you’ll receive behind-the-scenes information on our productions, information about pre-show lectures and department events and updates on our busy theatre alumni. As well, "Like" us on Facebook to hear about department and Phoenix Theatre activities or "Follow" us on Twitter to hear about the many successes of our alumni.
If you don’t already have contact with a recruitment representative from UVic, contact them and ask to receive their regular e-bulletin for counsellors. They send useful information and reminders to students interested in attending UVic.
