Your preferred first name is the name by which you are normally addressed, and can be different than your legal first name registered with UVic. It is used together with your last name in a number of online services like email, Brightspace, and enterprise applications.
You can update your preferred name by selecting Personal information from the Your profile drop-down menu.
All active students and employees are provided with an @uvic.ca email account that can be used to send and receive mail. This is the recommended email account used to send and receive university related communication. This email account will also grant you access to a wide range of UVic services including Brightspace, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
Students are encouraged to use their @uvic.ca email address as their preferred email to protect the privacy of their non-UVic email address.
Employees must use @uvic.ca as their primary UVic email address. Employees must not forward their UVic email address to non-UVic email addresses.
You can update your preferred email by selecting Contact information from the Your profile drop-down menu and selecting Update email addresses. We recommend adding an alternative email address for account recovery in case your unable to access your UVic email.
We recommend keeping your mailing address and contact information current so you don't miss receiving important information from the university. Your mailing address is included on your tax forms and other formal documents.
You can update your contact information by selecting Contact information from the Your profile drop-down menu.
