Install the VPN client: Windows (manual instructions)

Supported for: Windows 8, 8.1 and current Microsoft-supported Windows 10 x86 (32-bit) and X64 (64-bit) as well as Microsoft-supported versions of Windows 10 for ARM64-based PCs

The Cisco AnyConnect client is a VPN client that supports multiple operating systems. The best way to install it is from the VPN server itself. If the automatic download and install fails please see the following steps on how to proceed manually. 

  1. In a web browser, navigate to and sign in with your NetLink ID and passphrase

  2. Click the Download for Windows button, and save the Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client

    click on save file

  3. Now the file should be saved to your Desktop or Downloads folder. Double click on the anyconnect-win…exe file as seen below.


  4. Now the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup has started, and you should see the following window. Click Next.


  5. Accept the user License Agreement in order to proceed, click Next then after that click Install.



  6. You may be prompted with administrator permission to install the program, if so enter your administrator credentials to proceed with the installation. After installation is complete click Finish.



  7. Now the program is installed. Go to your start menu and open Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup under All Programs to start the program.

  8. To connect to VPN enter and click Connect.


  9. The next window will ask for your UVic credentials, enter them as shown below. When finished click OK, then click Accept in the next window.
