I graduated from Carleton University in 2019 with a BA in Human Rights and Social Justice and minors in Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies. During my undergraduate degree, I studied at the University of Leeds in their School of Social Policy and Sociology. Here, my research interests were grounded in exploring the relationships between gender and racialization. Informed by feminist scholars, my current research focuses on gender in the workplace. My thesis investigates the serving experiences of women working in the Victoria, BC restaurant community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, I am interested to learn what women perceive as the key changes occurring in restaurants at this time. And, might these changes influence the future of the restaurant industry? I am conducting this research under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Ravelli.

Areas of interest: feminism; gender; restaurant culture; human rights; community; intersectionality; social justice; workplace mistreatment; social performance; emotional labour; qualitative methodologies.
