Local Government Internship: Virtual Info Session Feb 3rd
January 30, 2026
Attention all recent and soon-to-be UVic graduates: A rewarding career in local government is calling you!
In collaboration with the Local Government Management Association (LGMA), UVic School of Public Administration is holding a virtual information session for the BC Local Government Internship Program Tuesday, February 3rd from 11:30am-12:30pm (PT).
This internship program offers an exciting opportunity for recent post-secondary graduates to gain practical, hands-on experience in the local government sector. The LGIP provides a unique, 12-month paid internship, where graduates work under the mentorship of a senior local government professional. Through this experience, interns gain a comprehensive understanding of local government operations while developing the skills and competencies needed to launch a successful career in the field. Internship applicants must have finished or will finish a post-secondary degree or diploma between January 1, 2024, and April 30, 2026.
If you’re drawn to a role where you can make a meaningful impact, a career in local government could be a great fit. Local government is the level of government that directly affects residents’ daily lives. Professionals in this sector come from diverse educational backgrounds and bring a wide range of skills to serve communities across British Columbia in varied roles.
