Faculty of Social Sciences Photo Contest

Theme: How We Live Together

We're looking for a powerful image that captures on campus the essence of community, connection, and collective life to feature on a large-scale display in our Faculty lobby.

What we're looking for: Show us your interpretation of "how we live together" – whether it's moments of human collaboration, cultural gatherings, everyday interactions, shared spaces, or the diverse ways people connect and coexist. We also welcome images that explore our relationships with the non-human world: animals, nature, and the ecosystems we share.

Who can enter: All UVic students, faculty, and staff affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences are welcome to submit.

Submission details:

  • High-resolution digital photographs only -  JPEG formation landscape orientation, with minimum 3500 pixels on the longest edge, a minimum file size of 5MB, and a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
  • Include a brief description of your image (50 words max).
  • Indicate whether you grant permission for the Faculty to retain and potentially use your photograph for other Faculty purposes (e.g., promotional materials, website, publications).
  • Submit to: annemacl@uvic.ca
  • Deadline: November 15, 2025

The winning photograph will be printed large-format and prominently displayed in the Faculty of Social Sciences lobby, greeting everyone who enters our space.
