First Year Interconnect (FYI)

The Office of Student Life (OSL) offers you a variety of ways to build community and get involved in your first year at UVic! From our brand-new mentorship program to weekly drop-in spaces just for first-year students, we’ve got you covered. Our aim is to create casual spaces for you to show up as yourself, ask any questions that you may have, and build a network of support with your peers on campus.

What past mentors have to say
“Through my role, I gained skills in time management, boundary setting, facilitation and leadership. This was my first role being a leader to others, so I developed my organizational and management skills. I was touched that some of my past students reached out to me after the program ended. This was meaningful, and I’m very proud of what I created.”
“I loved my experience as an engage leader and think back on it all the time! The people who I met and connected with are now some of my best friends, years later.”
