Credentials
BSc (UVic), MSc (UVic)
Area of expertise
Air pollution modeling, on-road vehicle emissions, machine learning, video recognition models
Daming started pursuing data science at the University of Victoria after finishing his BSc. in computer science. He started to show interest and did some data modeling on Victoria's air pollution prediction.
His studies during his Master's are focused on machine learning and reinforcement learning algorithms and applications. He is also experienced with large datasets preprocessing and analysis.
His current main research is applying his knowledge on data processing and modeling to predict air pollutant concentrations by extracting traffic variables like speed, vehicle type from the on-road vehicle videos. The model will mainly depend on the data collected in Victoria, specifically.
