Monika completed her Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering, and her Master’s of Environmental Studies in Sustainability Management both form the University of Waterloo in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Her interdisciplinary studies began in her undergraduate degree which exposed her to various manufacturing environments where she learned the complexity of stakeholder needs. This adds practical aspects to her multi-faceted technical engineering background. In her Master’s work, she analyzed the energy performance of a living lab net-zero energy case study building. Monika begins her PhD studies under the supervision of Dr. Ralph Evins at the University of Victoria in the Energy in Cities Lab. Her future work will involve investigating socio-technical factors contributing to heat pump adoption.

In her free time, Monika enjoys traveling, cooking and baking, hiking and paddle boarding.
