Beatrice Agyapong

Beatrice Agyapong earned her BSc in Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Ghana. She went on to complete her master's degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering at Simon Fraser University (SFU), where she further developed her expertise in clean energy systems and decarbonization strategies. During her undergraduate studies, she demonstrated strong leadership and service, serving as President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Welfare Vice-Chairperson, Chairperson of the Red Cross Society, and a Peer Educator.

She has 5yrs professional experience in the renewable energy sector. This background informs her broader interest in integrated clean energy solutions and low-carbon transitions.

Beatrice is also the founder of Decarbon Energy Ltd., an initiative focused on energy audits, transport electrification, and sustainable infrastructure planning, with growing interest in fuel cell technologies as part of future decarbonization pathways.

Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria. Her research focuses on the fabrication of catalyst layers for Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) water electrolyzers, where she investigates material design, fabrication techniques, and performance optimization for next-generation hydrogen production systems. 

Beatrice aims to bridge research, entrepreneurship, and policy to accelerate decarbonization across both emerging and developed economies.
