Loreen was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she enjoyed exploring the remote parts of the Boreal forest for leisure and later, as a gold prospector. Working in woods inspired her passion for environmental grassroots advocacy, environmental justice and policy reform; which led her to the University of Victoria, where she is now nearing completion of her BA in Geography and Environmental Studies, with a focus on environment and sustainability. In her spare time, (when she’s not occupied with her 2 cats) she loves engaging in various forms of art, one which includes filmmaking. She is looking forward to this incredible opportunity from CAPI and PRIA, where she hopes to learn, engage and broaden her depth of knowledge through participatory research and community engagement.
