Lending to other libraries

This page is for other libraries who want to borrow resources from UVic Libraries.

To place a request, we support the following options:

• Alma Resource Sharing
  • If you would like to add us as a peer-to-peer partner, our code is EXL:CA-BVIV.
  • Please email ill@uvic.ca before adding us.
• OCLC WorldShare
• Illume (SHAREit)
  • We are pausing SHAREit lending after Friday, May 1, while we work with SHAREit to integrate into Alma RS.
  • We anticipate a pause of 1 to 2 weeks.
• Relais (until May 1)
  • Please fill out a request form with your institution name and password.
  • After May 1, if you are not on any of the ILL systems listed above, please email ill@uvic.ca to place your request. We hope to have a new request form soon.

Loan information

Returnable loans:

• Monographs, theses and dissertations: 10 weeks from date of receipt (subject to recall).
• Serials (Canada only), microfilm: lending restrictions may apply.
• International return mailing cost to be covered by borrower.

Renewals:

• 1 renewal for 4 weeks.
• Serials, microfilm: no renewals.

Non-returnable copies:

• Copies from journals (print and electronic), book chapters, microfilm, and some complete ebooks.
• Delivery by email with PDF attachment.

Not for loan:

• Items in Special Collections, Archives, Reserve, or Reference.
• Fragile or Oversize items at discretion of the library.

Charges/Fees

Copies and loans:

• Canada:
  • Consortia libraries: as per agreements.
  • BC public libraries: $5.00 per request.
  • All other Canadian libraries: $10.00 per request.
• International:
  • Copies: $20.00 USD IFM or 2 IFLA vouchers.
  • Loans: $35.00 – $45.00 USD IFM or 4 IFLA vouchers.

Renewals: No charge.

Replacement cost: Cost of item plus $30.00 processing charge.

Late fees: No.
