Michael has subject responsibility for Medieval Studies, Philosophy, and Political Science. He is also the High School outreach coordinator.

Michael was born in BC, studied Classics at Concordia University (BA Hons.), and earned an MA in Medieval Studies from the University of Toronto (his thesis was on the role of monasteries in Charlemagne's cultural and political project of empire building.) He completed his MLS at U of T.

Michael has written for academic and popular publications, has been involved in professional associations in many positions, has served on the editorial boards of academic journals, and delivers community talks via the Speakers' Bureau. He has experience in a number of academic and professional libraries as a rare books librarian and as a law librarian. Currently Michael is Medieval Studies, Philosophy, and Political Science Librarian at the University of Victoria, and coordinates High School outreach. He is also an amateur bookbinder and gives bookbinding workshops for school age children in Victoria.
