UVic Law receives largest single gift from alumnus

UVic Law is celebrating the largest single gift from an alumnus in the school's history. Ron Wigham, class of 1981, and his wife Melissa have donated $103,000 to the law school. Ron is the Managing Director of Capital Markets, Peters & Co. Limited, Calgary. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at Milner Fenerty.

The Wighams' gift will be used to match the contributions of alumni and friends who establish new endowed entrance scholarships for law students. Entrance scholarships continue to be one of UVic Law's greatest areas of need. "Recruiting outstanding students is vital to the law school and the profession," says Dean Donna Greschner. "Ron and Melissa's generous contribution sets an example of leadership giving."

Fundraising for matching contributions has begun. If you would like more information about how to establish an endowed entrance scholarship, please contact Krista Sheppard, Development Officer, at lawdev@uvic.ca or 250.472.5627.
