Don MacDonald ('80) receives Dean's Cup

Don MacDonald ('80) was honoured with the Dean's Cup on April 19 at a UVic Law alumni reception in Vancouver. Don received the Dean's Cup for his longstanding commitment and exemplary service to the Faculty of Law.

The Dean's Cup recognizes alumni or friends of UVic Law who have gone "above and beyond the call of duty" in terms of of their dedicated service to the law school and its students. First presented in 1989 to Gordon Macdonald, other past recipients include Jack Woodward, Q.C. ('78), Ron Skolrood ('89), Mike Manson, and Mary Mouat, Q.C. ('87).

MacDonald is a senior partner with Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) in Vancouver, working in the areas of commercial litigation, municipal law and expropriations. Since his graduation in 1981, he has been involved with the law school in countless ways. In 1998 Don led an alumni campaign to establish the Murray and Anne Fraser Endowment, which supports faculty research, staff development and student programs.

Dean Donna Greschner presented the Dean's Cup, a hefty silver cup commissioned by Dean Bill Neilson in 1989, to Don at his law firm BLG. Many alumni, Don's colleagues, friends and family were in attendance to celebrate.
