Biography

My name is Charlotte Charlie, and I am honoured to serve as the Cultural Protocol Liaison in the Office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement (IACE) at the University of Victoria. I am a proud member of the Esquimalt (Xwsepsum) Nation, born and raised here in beautiful lək̓ʷəŋən territory.

In my role, I provide guidance on Coast Salish protocols and support cultural programming across campus. I work closely with partners to ensure that events, feasts, ceremonies, and other cultural activities are planned and carried out in a respectful and meaningful way. I also coordinate the Elders’ Voices program at First Peoples House, helping to enhance access to Elders’ services for the UVic community.

I look forward to building strong relationships with you, and with local Indigenous communities and organizations, as we walk together in support of Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

Please feel free to reach out to me through my email, or visit me in my office. I am here to support you and collaborate in ways that honour the land, the people, and the teachings.
