2026 Canadian Graduate Research Scholarship - Master's program Recipients

Five School of Medical Sciences students (in both the neuroscience and interdisciplinary programs) are recipients of the 2026–2027 Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Master’s program awards (CGRS M).

The CGRS M is a scholarship in the Canada Research Training Awards Suite (CRTAS) administered by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Recipients of these awards receive $27,000 over 12 months to help develop their research and training skills.

2026-2027 recipients

Kaylee Reid (CIHR)

Title: Bringing focus to the invisible injury: Defining a role for microbleeds and microglia in mild brain injury.

Sema Abu Shamleh (CIHR)

Title: Double Jeopardy: Evaluating hippocampal circuit and behavioural changes in the brain following prenatal ethanol exposure and mild traumatic brain injury.

Emma Skaug (CIHR)
