Transferring from an institute of technology

Admission requirements

If you're transferring to UVic from a diploma program at a Canadian institute of technology, you must meet the following requirements to be eligible for admission.

Amount of study completed Minimum cumulative average
One full year of a diploma program A-
More than one full year of a diploma program B
One or more years in a degree program See universities and university transfer programs

Note that the actual cutoff average required for admission may be higher than stated here due to limits on enrollment in particular programs. Some programs also have additional selection criteria as described in the Supplemental application information page.

Transfer credit

Transfer credit is determined on a course-by-course and case-by-case basis.

Eligible transfer credit is usually assigned during the admission process based on the year in which the courses were completed. In most cases, a transfer credit email is sent immediately following the admission offer.

Supplemental applications

In addition to grades, some UVic undergraduate programs require applicants to provide additional information as part of the selection process.

Check the Supplemental application information page to see details and instructions for programs that require supplemental applications.

English language proficiency

All University of Victoria applicants are required to demonstrate competence in the English language. Applications cannot be fully evaluated until proof of language proficiency is confirmed.
