Faculty releases its first e-newsletter

Teenage girls attending the event work in teams to create solutions to engineering challenges
Last month, 30 bright, energetic teens descended on UVic to take part in the faculty’s first Women in Engineering and Computer Science (WECS) Day for high school girls.

2019 November — The faculty has launched the first edition of UVic Engineering and Computer Science News, an email-only newsletter distributed this week to thousands of alumni, as well as faculty members, staff, donors and partners.

The publication’s name – which replaces EngineeRing – is more inclusive of the faculty’s highly regarded Computer Science Department, where undergrads earn a Bachelor of Science rather than a BEng, says Acting Dean Peter Wild in an introductory message.

The inaugural issue has a special focus on the contribution of women to the faculty, and also features articles on recent achievements in research, teaching and student activities. The e-newsletter will published in November and May each year.
