Program options

  • Master of Arts (MA) - thesis-based
  • Master of Education (MEd) - project-based

If you anticipate proceeding on to a PhD program, apply for the MA degree.

Program delivery

  • On-campus, face-to-face
  • Courses are scheduled in the evenings to accommodate family and work commitments during the day
  • Students typically complete the program within two years/5 terms (without co-op) or three years (with co-op) of full-time studies.

Program plan

The MA program consists of 15 units of study and includes:

  • Coursework - 9 units (6 courses/1.5 units each)
  • Thesis - ED-D 599 (6.0 units), incl. an oral examination.

Your program will vary by year of entry. Please note that special topics courses and electives are subject to change and not all coursesare offered each term.

The MEd program consists of 15 units of study and includes:

  • Coursework - 10.5 units (7 courses/1.5 units each), including the required ED-D 561B
  • Project - ED-D 598 (3.0 units)
  • Comprehensive exam - ED-D 597(1.5 units).
