About Alex
Alex Thomo works on data management, with a focus on algorithms for large-scale graph data. His research includes scalable community detection and mining on massive networks, methods for knowledge graphs, and GraphRAG techniques combining graph-structured retrieval with large language models. Applications of this work span social network analysis, biomedical information retrieval, and reasoning over knowledge graphs.
A second line of his research is differential privacy, covering both private graph analytics and differentially private text sanitization. He also works on fairness and bias in LLM-based systems, including bias in recommender systems and epistemic injustice in legal applications of LLMs.
