About Ibrahim
Ibrahim is an associate professor of computer science at the University of Victoria, where he holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in computational biology and data science. He also serves as combined program advisor for the HINF/CSC program.
Ibrahim's research focuses on developing efficient computational methods and algorithms for computational biology and bioinformatics. His work includes efficient approaches to genomic data storage, transportation and analysis at both the species and individual levels, with particular attention to the complex and repeated regions of genomes. He is also interested in the practical implementation and deployment of these methods as usable software systems, exploring computational frameworks, compiler techniques and programming languages for high-quality, scalable data manipulation. More recently, his work has extended to secure and private computation over large-scale biomedical datasets.
