About Nishant

Nishant is an associate professor of computer science at the University of Victoria.

Nishant's research focuses on developing and analyzing theoretically-principled methods for machine learning, also known as machine learning theory. His work spans online learning and sequential prediction including prediction with expert advice, multi-armed bandits, and reinforcement learning theory, as well as statistical learning theory, covering empirical process theory and PAC-Bayesian methods.

He also works on transfer learning, with a particular interest in lifelong learning and principled methods of transferring representations. More recently, his attention has turned to problems of learning in the presence of self-interested agents.
