About Celina
Dr. Celina Berg is a teaching professor in the Department of Computer Science and is currently holding the position of Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs for the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. She teaches undergraduate programming and computer science courses and focuses on improving the first-year experience in computing through thoughtful curriculum design and evidence-based teaching practices.
Dr. Berg holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Victoria, where her doctoral research focused on parallel and distributed computing and software engineering for complex systems.
Her current research explores computer science education, with particular emphasis on mastery-based learning and the impact of test anxiety on student performance and learning. Through this work, she investigates approaches that support student success and help create more effective learning environments in computing education.
