Volunteers
Volunteers are essential to ensuring our convocation ceremonies run smoothly. We invite everyone to help create an unforgettable convocation experience for our graduating students!

Volunteer roles
Robing assistants
Help students to look their best during their ceremonies. Most of them have never worn graduation robes, hoods or caps!
- Time commitment: 2 hours (per volunteer shift)
Marshals
Marshals help create a smooth and stress-free experience for graduating students. Once students have put on their regalia, a team of Marshals to guide them through the lineup process and lead them into the auditorium for their ceremony. During the event, marshals also assist with key tasks to help things run seamlessly from start to finish.
- Time commitment: 3.5-4 hours (per volunteer shift)
Greeters/wayfinders
Greeters/wayfinders are stationed throughout the Convocation Zone, ready to welcome students, families, and guests. Greeters help direct people to key areas and provide general assistance to ensure everyone feels informed and supported.
- Time commitment: 2 hours (per volunteer shift)
Student ceremony check-in
The check-in team is stationed at JCC A-Wing and works with the regalia team to check students in for their ceremony which includes giving them their ceremony wristbands.
- Time commitment: 2.5 hours (per volunteer shift)
Mystic Market check-in
The Mystic Market check-in team is stationed at the mystic patio. They check students in for their procession and give them their name strips.
- Time commitment: 2.5 hours (per volunteer shift)
Sign up
Visit our Bloomerang volunteer website to sign up as a volunteer. The sign-up process only takes a few minutes, and then you can choose your shifts from the available dates and times.
If you need to change your schedule, you can log into the volunteer website to manage your shifts, or download the Bloomerang app.
Training
In-person training for convocation takes place between November 4 and 6.
- Robing: Tuesday, November 4 from 3:00-4:30pm
- Marshal: Wednesday, November 5 from 12:00-2:00pm
- Greeter/Wayfinder: Wednesday, November 5 from 2:30-3:30pm
- Mystic Market Check in: Thursday, November 6 from 10:30-11:45am
- Ceremony Check in: Thursday, November 6 from 2:30 - 3:45pm
