Every graduating student receives an invitation to a convocation ceremony, where you can have your parchment presented to you on stage. If you're unable to attend, you can have your parchment mailed to you.

Apply to graduate

In order to be invited to a convocation ceremony, you'll need to apply to graduate from UVic:

Register for convocation

We give students lots of time to decide whether or not you'll attend convocation. If you really want to come—but aren't sure you can make it—take your time making a decision.

Just make sure to respond before the registration deadline!

Spring 2024

Registration closed on May 20, 2024.

Fall 2024

Invitations for fall convocation are emailed in late September.

Guest tickets

When you register for your spring 2024 convocation ceremony, you'll be able to reserve up to three (3) guest tickets.

  • due to fire-code regulations, every guest must have a ticket (including infants and toddlers)
  • graduates participating in their convocation ceremony do not require a ticket
  • guest tickets are sent electronically to the email address you provided during registration, closer to the date of your ceremony

Extra tickets are released one hour before the start of a ceremony on a first-come, first-served basis. Instruct your guests to line up at the UVic Ticket Centre.

Invitation letter for international guests

If your guests need visas to travel to Canada in order to attend your convocation ceremony, request an invitation letter for international guests.
